A Crash Course - how we got to where we are today

I completed the CERT course on May 14, 2001 and have had a 72-hour kit at hand ever since.

Last summer I discovered the website of Mr. Chris Martenson who has developed what he calls the "Crash Course".

His information is critical in understanding the dynamics of how we got where we are and what the future portends.

Mr. Martenson's course is vital to helping people realize the need for not only preparing for an uncertain future, but also encourages developing community so that we can support each other during difficult times.

In his Welcome message, Mr. Martenson states, "I think the next twenty years are going to look very different from the last twenty years. This site is my attempt to explain why.

You should start with the Crash Course. This series of videos is, I think, the clearest and most straightforward explanation of how our economy, energy systems and environment interact -- how we got to where we are today, and some reasonable expectations for the future."

The CERT community is well suited for understanding and appreciating what the site offers. There is no charge at all for joining the site and reading/posting in the forums. There is a separate section of the site that offers additional material if you enroll, but it is not required and there is a large amount of excellent information offered for free.

As a member of CERT, I wanted to bring this information to the attention of others in the CERT community. I highly recommend that you take the time to visit the site (http://www.chrismartenson.com/) and see if you agree.
